Community Planning Update
Meeting attendees "tour" the proposed site.

On July 30, more than 240 Lathrop community friends and neighbors met at the New Life Community Church to provide input on the revitalization of Lathrop Homes.
Lathrop Community Partners (LCP) and the Chicago Housing Authority (CHA) presented a draft master plan, developed with the input of current and former residents, neighbors from the surrounding community, aldermen, housing advocates, preservationists, and transportation and land use experts.
After the meeting, attendees had the opportunity to discuss the draft master plan with LCP and CHA members while “touring” the proposed site on a scaled plan and examining scale models of several of the proposed site’s new and improved public spaces. Over 110 attendees completed surveys and comments cards, which will provide important input as the team continues to refine the plan.
The draft master plan presented at the meeting can be found here.
The project now enters the planned development phase, during which LCP and CHA will meet with various city departments to finalize the master plan. Much like the previous phase, public input in the planned development phase will be critical to ensure project success. LCP and CHA will convene another meeting this winter to discuss the planned development process and implementation of the master plan.
